It's getting so crisp and chilly in the mornings already and I can hardly believe that fall is just around the corner (well, except for sunny Jessie's neck of the woods)! I have felt the urgency lately to get out and enjoy the last of the beautiful weather this next month before the midwest 6 month winter sets in...brrr...:) But I love autumn; it's my favorite season! So what are your favorite outdoor workouts? Get out and have fun! Be active! Feel the calorie burn! I love this list of ideas:
Ten Ideas for Outdoor Workouts
I think my dog might actually be taken to the dog park this weekend for the first time in over a month :) Relaxed romping around sounds like such a great weekend treat. What do this week's workouts look like for you?

I admit I haven't been very original in my workouts b/c training for my first marathon has been so time consuming, but I HAVE done a good job with all my runs in my training routine I'm following. Last Thursday I rollerbladed 12 miles, last Saturday I ran 15 miles, Tuesday I ran 5 miles, Wednesday I ran 10 miles (gorgeous & rejuvenating route through an arboretum & around a lake), tonight I will be running for 5 miles, Friday I rest, and this Saturday the big 2-0! I am so excited about it and can't wait to go my furthest distance ever :) I have never felt so energized in my whole life. Working out and eating right has really helped me feel better on a daily basis :) BUT...all that being said, I AM looking forward to mid-October when I can swap out other workouts for running, like Zumba and TurboJam and TaeBo and cycling....
ReplyDeleteMy favorite outdoor workouts are outdoor sports. I don't know if slow pitch softball counts; I always run to and from the dugout and outfield so hopefully that counts. My husband and I like to hit balls to eachother and do soccer passing drills. Hikes are awesome. I can't wait until the weather cools down so we can hit up Camelback and a view others. I'm starting a "boot camp" next week which is outdoors. We'll see how it goes...
ReplyDeleteJessie, I LOVE hiking! The boot camp sounds great. There's one here in WI that I have been wanting to try but it's $199/mo and that's a little steep I think. I don't know, I guess you get what you pay for, right? Another woman in our ward here did it and LOVED it. What's your boot camp going to be like? This one's outdoors, too. I may have to do it as a reward for finishing my race...if I live that is... :)
ReplyDelete$199! Wow, this one is only $30. Basically I just need someone telling me what to do, otherwise I skip out. It's outdoors at a high school track. I'm excited! Just like the old days of Coach Dryden making us run hills.
ReplyDeleteWhat a deal! Good luck, Jessie!
