So my reasons for losing weight and staying fit would be about feeling happy and sexy. I am really proud of myself when I have a success and it affects my mood and even my outlook on life- everything's a little brighter and positive. That little high is so addictive and I just love feeling great about myself, who I am, and that I can accomplish anything. My motivation is to feel GREAT! My motivation behind running races is that if I can make my body do the seemingly impossible and push it, then I can make it do anything, even breaking bad habits or having more energy or being happy. I can't wait to hear what all of your healthy motivation is!
ReplyDeleteHere are my reasons, sorry there are a bunch! I'm going to print them off along with a "skinny" picture of myself to look at everyday. Yeah, sounds weird, but I think it will help me. :)
ReplyDeleteHave more energy!
Feel proud of myself for accomplishing this goal!
Be able to exercise with my hubby and have more activities we can share together.
Be an example of healthy living for my children.
Have strangers look me in the eye again when talking to me. (anyone else notice this when they've been heavier?)
Not feel squished into my clothes.
Have my pants actually fit me and not fall off my “muffin top” ☺
See my waist again.
Feeling more confident from doing something VERY hard! ☺
Feeling like my pre-4baby self again!
To have one chin again. ☺
To get off the path that I see myself on of disease that runs in my family.
Avoid illness that I have some control over.
Wear cute clothes again and to look better!
Possibly get off my thyroid medicine! (have to talk to my Dr. more about that one)
I think I'll wait to print my list until I hear all of your great ideas as well. I'm sure I'll want to add to it.
I am losing weight because I am really just not myself right now. The real me is 30 lbs smaller. I don't "hate my body" in fact I love it. That's why I am making my body as healthy as it can be. I can only work with positive thinking. I am making myself better. Improving this body that I love so it can work and I can use it to do all the good great things I need to do in this life.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Valerie. One of my reasons for losing weight is because I have not been myself these days! I have lost a little bit of me with every child born, and I want ME back! I don't feel selfish in saying that either. I want to feel sexy again as well, and not look down on myself. My husband always tells me I need more confidence, and I know I am more confident when I look and feel good inside and out. I want to set a healthy example for my 3 boys and my husband! I have a great desire to be an 'active' mom when my boys get older and are involved in different things. I love camping and hiking, so I want to be able to enjoy those things as well. The 'real me' (weight wise) is only 25 pounds away!! Some other reasons for my motivation are:
ReplyDelete-improve my mental and emotional state.
-fit into cute clothes (ok.. well, cute pants)
-Gain self confidence
-be healthier - make better choices
-not feel 'old' before I'm 'old'! ha!
and many others. I'm glad to be a part of this, and I am inspired by the words of you great ladies that I haven't even met!
Here a some of my motivators!
ReplyDelete-be sexy for my husband
-feel sexy
-feel more comfortable in clothes
-be able to keep up with my baby when she starts moving around
-more self confidence
Nic, I love that you are going to print out your list! I write goals every month and tape them to the bathroom mirror. I hope Tim doesn't mind that I will be adding another sheet of paper because I'm going to print my list too!
ReplyDeleteHere's my list so far
-The feeling of success!
-Being sexy for myself and my husband
-Walking into any store and knowing I can find something that will look good.
-Energy!
-Having the same confidence in my appearance that I have in my brain and my personality.
-Having one chin
-Loving how I look in pictures, rather than sorting to find one I can accept.
-Being an example for others.
Great lists ladies! I want to lose weight because I want to feel good about myself. I've been overweight since I was 7 years old. -not obese, but always heavier than my friends. I've had to many "you're overweight" experiences in my life. Now, I'm ready for the "you look totally hot" experiences! I have some serious catching up to do with those! Bottom line: I want to feel great about myself and being healthy and fit is an enormous push toward that end! And, I only have 10 lbs. to go until I get to my original goal! Whoo-Hoo!! I am sooooo excited about this next 6 weeks!
ReplyDeleteI have loved reading all of your motivation and my list is very similar. My main motivation is I want to be alive past the age of 40 since my cholestorl is horrible!! If I workout it helps alot.
ReplyDeleteThe others:
- I want to be happy with the image I see in the mirror
- I have been an athlete my whole life and want to look like it and not have people surprised when they hear that
- I want to fit into the all the clothes I have bought for the "when" I want the "when" sooner rather than later
- I want the pictures of my cruise in Feb. to be fabulous and not see them and be embarassed
- I don't want to be the fat sister
- I want to be able to do whatever physical activity that comes up
- Chase after my kinds for years to come
- I don't want to be the bigger girl anymore
No more excuses!!! I am so excited for the next 6 weeks!!!!
Hi! Sorry I missed posting for yesterday it is already shaping up to be a crazy crazy week. This is my second challenge and at the end of the last challenge I had a love of trials thrown at me in my life and I slipped and I'm disappointed in myself for gaining back the weigh I had lost. I love seeing everyones reasons and I agree on so many, Abrey I love playing with my daughter and I feel myself slowing down and I dont like that.
ReplyDeleteI had to go to my fathers funeral at the end of last week and on my last day there I went to the beach and I hated being in a bathing suit. I felt so self conscious and I dont want to feel that way. I dont want to go have family pictures taken and dislike the way I look in them. So over all for me more energy and more self-confidence! I am wonderful I just want to look that way too!
Wow- I am pumped w/ all those great reasons you shared! Nicole- the feeling more confident because you achieved something hard- how Biggest Loser-ish of you :) That feeling of "whoa, I worked SO hard to lose X amount of weight" feels great! Looks like the list hung up where you see it often is a great idea that we all love. Thanks for sharing! I'm going to have to do that :) Valerie- leave it up to you to put a positive and loving paradigm shift on it all :) Thanks for reminding us to be happy NOW, too. Our healthy, happy, live-a-long-life selves are within each of us. We all should remember to enjoy the journey, not just wish we could fast foward to the future. Amy F.- I love how you say that the 'real me' is only 25 lbs away and how your weight loss journey is also an emotional well-being journey. It's amazing for me that the biggest change is in my happiness. Jeanie- I love that you brought sexy back!- ok, that was awfully cheesy of me :P But seriously, shake it, girl! Amy C- I love that you brought up pictures and being able to love pictures again. I noticed recently as I was glancing back through my scrapbooks, that I only had maybe one small pic of myself over last winter! And even that from the shoulders up. I feel a selfish winter '09-'10 spread coming on :) hehehe :) Meghan, you look totally HOT :) Just wanted to throw that out there! And you are SO close to your goal- how exciting! Abrey- the goal of looking the part of stellar athlete is so perfect for you! I love it! Maybe something Nicole shared last challenge (on her t-shirt) will hit home with you like it did for me: "Action Expresses Priorities"- Ghandi. So if you work hard and have an athlete's physique, your body sends the message to the world that you love yourself, you work hard, and being an active athlete is a priority in your life. The spontainaity in being able to jump into any athletic game at any time will make for SUCH A FUN MOM! I just pictured you now running around a big park with your kids laughing and having fun :) Shanda- I applaud you jumping back into the next 10 in 6 w/ such determination! Good for you! Don't beat yourself up b/c of set backs- start each morning fresh w/ determination and a decision to do your best- hang in there, babe! Put one foot in front of the other each day. I love that Abby said tonight on the BL that "it's not a sprint- it's a marathon." We just all keep on truckin'. We are all fighting our own battles, sometimes the enemy is within us but sometimes unfortunately it's out of our control and outside of us, but together as a group, we all keep on truckin' :) We are here for you! As the moderator (or whatever you want to call it) of this group, I have the unique pleasure and perspective of knowing ALL of you at some point in my life and I know that EACH of you is strong, and that within you is someone even STRONGER who is pushing to get out. Another spin on this concept is from the book Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert (I know- some of you couldn't stand that book), that perhaps your skinnier, happier, healthier, future self is PULLING you through the trials and sweat and hard work of TODAY. You're all so great- thanks for helping and encouraging our group! We're off to a great start!
