Monday Morning Check-In

How did the second week go? Let us know how much you're up or down, what changes you've noticed, etc. We'll check-in with how our measurements have changed at our halfway point next Monday :) Are you ladies loving My Fitness Pal or not big fans? Are you revved up and excited to start this third week? What plans do you have for avoiding previous pitfalls?

  1. I am down 1.8 & estatic about it :) Horray! I think the excitement of losing a pound is contagious and makes you want to keep going. To avoid previous pitfalls for me, I'm hoping to get more sleep this week and weekend. When I run consistently on 4-5 hours of sleep a night, I get much more weak in the knees and ravenous for unhealthy foods. When I manage to get 7-8, I'm much more healthy in my choices! So that's what I'm going to aim for this week, getting to bed at a decent hour...
Short & sweet blog post this morning ladies, but I'm so excited to hear how you all did!

  2. Shanda, Michele's had a hard time posting the last two weeks, too. If you get really frustrated, just email me what it is you wanted to post and I'd be happy to post it on here for you. I haven't had luck w/ the iPhone posting, either. I don't know why...I am at least happy you've been engaged and excited about challenge!

  3. I lost 6lbs, I am sure most of it is just water weight, but it is still great. I have a lot to go. This week I am going to avoid cooking food I can not eat, and I am going to try and exercise with my kids. Just got a medicine ball so I can work on my core.

  4. I lost 3 lbs so far and I'm super stoked about it! I was chasing after a kid that I was working with last friday (someone was suppose to be watching him but wasn't so I had to run to catch him) and my jeans- which are my jeans that normal fit perfectly were loose! (Granted this is bad when you are running and realize you forgot your belt) I can't wait to fit into some of my favorite pre baby clothes!

  5. Holding fast at 140! But I'm really happy about the changes in seeing some tone in my legs a little for my tummy! yeah!!

  6. Valerie, WOW! Good for you! All of your hard work and dedication the last 2 weeks have paid off BIG TIME! I hope you're feeling better and more energetic, too! Shanda, great job! I think pants are the most gratifying measurement tool ever :) I put on some jeans last week that I hadn't been able to wear in 3 years (granted, I need a little more core work to pull off the look without a baggy sweater, but I'm so excited!). I feel healthier and sassier already :)

  9. I lost one pound and am very happy! I was scared to get on the scale this morning, but pleasantly surprised. I've had a difficult week. I'm PMSing this week and I always get really hungry along with being cranky. The upside is it only last a week or so. Any tips? I just allowed myself more treats than usual b/c I was trying to avoid the "eat a 1/2 gallon of ice cream out of total frustration with feeling starved" syndrome.
This week, I'm going to try to be a bit more active and try some of those yummy recipes I see on here! Keep it up everyone!

  10. Wow, nice progress Nicki & Meghan! That's great! You can tell you're motivated and determined!
Meghan, your comment reminds me, re-read that link about acccurately measuring yourself. If you gave the courage to weigh yourself while pmsing or on your period, wow. But the article says don't weigh in during those two weeks unless you want to cry:). You are brave, Meghan! I think your indulge-a-little-bit tactics are working!!!

  11. Lost 1 lb more. Woot! I wore my grey dress pants to church and they were looser than a couple months ago (granted, last time I wore them it was a hot & humid day and they were sticking to me!). :)
    Congrats everyone else!

  12. I agree with Sarah! I don't think I would have had the heart to weigh myself Meghan. Just think, you are probably further along than you thought because of the body differences! ;)

  13. I'm still at 1 pound lost. I stopped doing MyFitnessPal mainly because I got lazy and tired of trying to figure out my calories. I think I'll start again. I also had family in town and an invite to Sunday dinner, and I have no self discipline in those settings. Do you guys have any good at-home workouts? I babysit everyday so don't get out and our weekdays nights are packed so it's hard to get a night workout in.

  14. Jessie-If you think you can squeeze in a 20-30 min workout in front of a computer screen, just browse you tube for well-known workout video clips. Try Beach Body TurboJam, Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred, Tae Bo, or Zumba! The kids you babysit will probably find it hilarious to shake their booties w/ you :) Good job, Sarah F.! Slow & steady is the healthiest weight loss! You're doing great!

  15. I am down two pounds this week! I'm looking forward to a run with my running buddy on the lakefront after work and class this evening - Chicago's lakefront is my favorite place to run! You all are such an inspiration!

  16. Nice job, Kristin! And soooo jealous you get to run on the lakeshore! I'll have to make a special trip in to the city the next time we are visiting Doug's parents just so I can go on a gorgeous run with you!

  17. Meghan, I totally have the samew problem when I am PMSing. Hi ladies, my name is Tara and I am one of Sarah Weight's friends joining in to lose some weight with you ladies. I am down 2 pounds today from my original "weigh in" last week. I have been doing this for a week now but I forgot to get on and do what I was supposed to, I'm a busy slacker! This week my goal is to not eat fast food. Challenge for me because I work 2 jobs and sometimes it's easier to swing through the drive thru from job a to b. I wish everyone luck this next week!

  18. It's hard when you're running around and your busy (but want to be lazy when it comes to what you want to eat). So here's my suggestion. Take something on the way out the door that you can eat as you go from point A to B. It doesn't have to be anything fancy- I love to eat granola bars, bagels, fruit (like an apple or grapes are pretty easy to eat in the car), cheese/meat and crackers, etc. Hope that helps, Tara!

  19. Tara- Swinging by a grocery store salad bar is also a good move. I like loading up on artichoke hearts and cherry tomatoes :). Or their fresh cut pineapple and berries if it's breakfast.

  20. Or you really MUST go through drive through- here's some diet friendly choices:
    McDonald's Grilled Chicken sandwich (w/ no mayo)= 370 calories
McDonald's Premium Asian Salad with Chicken (my fav item on the menu)= 300 calories
    McDonald's Fruit and Yogurt Parfait= 160 calories
Wendy's Mandarin Chicken Salad (another fav of mine)= 540 calories
    Subway's 6" Oven-Roasted Chicken= 310 calories
    Subway's 6" Veggie Delite= 230 calories
    KFC's Honey BBQ sandwich= 280 calories

I have to say though my fav diet friendly place to eat is Subway- I LOVE their subs, and they have a good selection of sandwiches that are low in calories! You can see all the ones that Jarod likes here: http://www.subway.com/applications/Menu/frmMenuPanel.aspx?CC=USA&LC=ENG&MenuID=35

    Hope that helps!
