Feel the Burn Thursday
Good morning, shrinkin' divas!
I hope you're all having a great week!
A friend of mine just got recruited by her church to teach a "Frugal Fitness" lesson to a group of women, varying in age from 18 to 100. She and I have been brainstorming ideas and I've had a lot of fun helping and learning from her. One of the things she's going to talk about is lifting weights using water jugs, big cans, etc. Another is doing workouts on a playground with your kids. Have any of you ever tried either of these before? Share your experience and what you did! If you haven't tried, then share an idea for at-home or no-cost workouts. At this link, www.ehow.co.uk/articles_2355-p63-exercise.html scroll down to the bottom of the page and there are a TON of playground workout ideas. And at this link, http://www.ehow.com/video_4953237_water-jug-exercises-plie-squats.html are a lot of water jug workouts w/ videos.
What workouts have you been up to this week? I hope you all decide to make today an active day :) It's all about the attitude choices we make. A 30 second workout is better than none at all.

ReplyDeleteI am a gym rat! The gym is my second home and I really enjoy getting up in the morning going to my place to sweat and not be interrupted. I completely encourage everyone to workout and if you can make it work at home go for it!! My new gym is really quiet in the mornings so at times I am the only one there so it seems like my own private gym!
ReplyDeleteThis week m/w/f weight training then elliptical still trying to figure out what program on the new machine I like the best. T/Th I ran for an hour straight!! After taking close to three weeks off of running I am really excited I didn't lose everything. Saturday I plan on a long easy run then rest Sunday.
I'm back at it after being out of it for what seems like forever. Monday, I ran 2 miles. Tuesday, I walked for an hour and did at home strengthening and stretching exercises. Yesterday and this morning, I ran 4 miles each! It's so nice to be outside enjoying this weather! It's so fun to run with the dogs at the dog park; I'll be doing that one again soon!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Meghan - this perfect weather makes it hard to be inside! I'm glad your lungs are letting you get some runs in again.
ReplyDeleteThis week I played soccer and tennis on Monday. Tuesday I ran 3 miles. Today I'm shooting for 4, and 5 tomorrow. It feels good to be on my way to 13 miles (by mid June). That will be the furthest I've ever run. So far I've run 12 miles twice -both a long time ago. It will be so great to go beyond that! I am so excited to start increasing my miles! I'm feeling strong now, and hopefully I can keep it that way.
I've been doing lots of yard work, playing tag with kids, soccer practice, and running on our new trail (Maggie I'll send you a picture) :) I LOVE THIS WEATHER!!! Just thought I'd mention that,,,,, :)
