Monday Morning Check-in
Good morning, girls! 22!!! That's how many ladies are on the same boat as you, about ready to give it their all just like you, ready to challenge their excuses and rock this challenge just like you! So exciting!
So this morning everybody should weigh in and measure. Record your weight and measurements in your MFP profile by clicking on the "My Home" tab, then click on "Check-in." When you're all done entering in your data, click "Save Changes." If you've already entered data into MFP before with another challenge or something, be sure to then click "Edit Previous Entries" and delete out your old weights (you can keep measurements in there, that doesn't matter) so that today's weight is the only weight in there. You can also customize which body parts you want to measure and track. Click on "Change Measurements" and at the bottom you can type whatever you want in the empty box to add your own. I like hips, bum, thigh, calf, upper arm, waist, ribcage, & bust. You can track more or less, whatever your preference is. When you're ready to start tracking today's calories consumed, click the "food" tab, then "add food" under whatever meal you want. You can customize the names and # of meals, too, by clicking "settings" and change "meal names" or you can customize the nutrients that show up on your daily summary by clicking "settings" and change "nutrients tracked." I like to have breakfast, late morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner. And I like to have fiber & sodium on my front page, too. So ENOUGH housekeeping :) On to the fun stuff!
You've got your journey started now! Yay! We're all going to be very different in what season we're at in life and what we do on a daily basis, but this connects us to a common purpose. I find it SOOOO inspiring to hear everybody's "why" and their inspiration for losing weight. Please comment on this post and share with us all WHY DO YOU WANT TO LOSE THE WEIGHT??? WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO DO IT??? HOW WILL YOU FEEL WHEN YOU LOSE THE WEIGHT??? WHAT WILL YOU BE ABLE TO DO WHEN YOU LOSE THTE WEIGHT??? WHY ARE YOU GIVING THIS BLOG A SHOT??? WHY WHY WHY???

My reasons have been to get to a confident, sexy self that was hidden inside my old overweight self. I want to improve my running and I want to get more into cycling this year. I have some athletic goals that losing excess fat will really help me achieve. I feel spunkier and beautiful thinner. I want to feel the sexiest possible. I want to be a healthy body for a baby. I want to live a long, healthy, active life. I want to be the kind of woman in her 40's and 50's who looks like she's in her 30's. I want to help and inspire others. I want to feel proud of who I am. I want to never hide my tummy or love handles again. I want to be the best me! And physical improvement is a HUGE part of that!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that so many of you ladies are new, that so many are returning, and I know that we can all hit our goals with the friendship and support that this blog provides. May we all become interconnected and estatic to hear how everyone else is doing! Be happy for your little successes and be happy for others'!
1. Eating healthy (less sugar) helps me have a more steady emotional state (i.e. a better wife and mom)
ReplyDelete2. I want to have more energy and do exciting thigns with my family. I want to be remembered as a high energy, positive, fun person.
3. I want to live at least to age 70 (heart disease runs rampant in my famiy; losing weight = lower cholesterol)
Yay for everyone! I'm so glad to get to interact with you all each day! :)
My reasons all boil down to me feeling better about myself. -having more confidence and a healthy self-esteem. This is my fourth 10 in 6 challenge. The women participating in it have been a huge inspiration to me for reaching my goals! This blog has helped me get as far as I have more than I thought possible. It's fantastic! You're going to love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm only a few pounds from my goal weight and it feels amazing! I'm overcoming an obstacle that has daunted me my whole life! It sounds cliche, but it's true: If I can accomplish this, I can accomplish ANYTHING! And, I'm almost there! It feels great!!!
I want to be the best me!
I want to feel sexy again. My husband only got to enjoy me being my comfortable self for like a year of our marriage if that. I want him to see that again.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to start this next 10 in six challenge! The reasons I am doing this is similar to all of yours. I want to look like the person I feel I am inside. I don't want people to be surprised when I declare myself an athlete. I want to challenge my excuses and gain knowledge on how to make my body the best it can be. I want to live an active healthy life with my kids and spouse. I want to actually LOOK in the mirror and be PROUD of what I see. My body is a gift! When I reach my goal I am actually going to be in family pictures instead of hiding behind the camera! I am going to feel accomplished for setting a goal then acheiving it!! I am going to be the best me!!
ReplyDeleteWhy... there are so many reasons.
ReplyDeleteI'm tired of feeling self conscious about my appearance. I'm tired of being tired. I'm tired of not being about to do fun things on the spur of the moment because I can't keep up.
I can already feel the difference, and that motivates me to keep going.
I have some big, but achievable fitness goals for this year. This blog helps keep me on track.
my reasons.....well, i just want to feel good about myself inside and out. i would like to have the energy to keep up with my kids. my husband joined the national guard about a year ago and is within 15 lbs. of where i am and i DONOT want him and i to weigh the same unless i am pregnant. which comes to the next reason... i have been told that i have pcos and losing weight is one of the main ways to help with that. i just want to follow through on a goal for me. i hope this will help me get the excerise habit started up again. i have had a hard time getting back into the routine. it will feel fab-u-lous to accomplish my goal. not just having a better figure but mentally as well.
ReplyDeleteMy reasons for wanting to lose the weight is so that I can feel good about myself again. Some of these ladies have already heard this but I formed some really bad habits during my marriage and gained 50 lbs. A few years ago I worked really hard to get the weight off which I did! YAY!! But now I have fallen back into some bad habits again and have put on 17 lbs of the 50 I lost. BOO!!! So my goal is to lose that darn 17 lbs! I know I can do it because I have done it before. Getting through the holidays was really hard but I am grateful for a new year that will give me that fresh start. I am going to challenge my excuses!
ReplyDeleteI want to have more confidence and feel pretty again. I don't want to be ashamed of my body anymore and be embarrassed to get dressed in front of my husband. I want to be able to wear a cute bathing suit and a cute pair of jeans and know that I look good. I'm tired of buying bigger sizes, I REFUSE to do that anymore! I want to feel healthy and be an example to my children. I am a grandma to the cutest almost one year old little boy and I want to have the energy to keep up with him and my children. I want to inspire other women. I want to be to the best ME I can possibly be and look back and be proud of my accomplishments!
I am so excited to be doing this with all of you and I know we can do it!!! Let's do it ladies!
I'm excited to be officially starting this today! I was determined to work on my weight and fitness and I knew that being part of a support group in the form of this blog would be a great asset to me in that effort. I want to lose weight and be more fit, so that I can feel better about myself, feel better about my relationship with my husband, and feel better being able to interact more with my 4 children.
ReplyDeleteSo I want to be a great example and inspire people, live to be 100 and all that, but the real reason I am doing this is the same reason I do everything in my life; I want to run really fast and win some races (or just improve my times). This is impossible with this extra 20-30 pounds hanging around.
ReplyDeleteI do well with competition, so bring it on.
I also have a really awesome halloween costume planned for this october. It requires a smaller version of myself but is otherwise a really great idea, and I am sure I can pull it off.
I LOVE your answers, girls! All that passion is like a contagious fuel for us :) Valerie, you have me SOOOO CURIOUS for your halloween costume :) Jen R, as always, our zen guru, I love that one of your motivations is emotional stability. That's great for all of us! Meghan, you're sooooooo close! You've been such a great contributor and cheerleader on this blog- I know that your success will just be one more tool in your arsenal of greatness and that you WILL accomplish anything you want to :) Jeanie, let that sexiness creep on out, girl! Abrey, you are such an amazing athlete who has lost 25 LBS!!!! WOW!!!!! WOOHOOO!!!! Being true physically to what we profess verbally and what we feel emotionally is an important part of balance and loving ourselves. Amy C. was our ROCKSTAR last session losing 10 lbs and inspiring us to try new sports! Your goals for 2010 have me so excited :) Allison, my Dr.s used to think I had PCOS, but then they later decided it was smthg to do w/ my pituitary gland and thyroid, so I have done A LOT of research on PCOS and I am SO IMPRESSED that you're jumping on this bandwagon and taking your health into your own hands, knowing full-well it's going to be harder for weight to drop than for others. Your determination is awesome! I love it! See, the rest of us have no excuses :) Kim, you sound like a 20-smthg when you post, so full of life and vivacity!!! Look forward, don't look back. The best is yet to come! Cherise, it's amazing how much being confident in your own skin can help relationships- good for you! Val, I hope you remember us all when you're a famous runner w/ sponsors and interviews for runnersworld magazine taking up so much of your time... :)
ReplyDeleteBig welcome to Leah & Leslie who just joined us today! And from a technical side-point, I'll get the emailing all worked out tonight w/ my tekkie's help so that there will no longer be any limits to the # of people who are automatically emailed from the blog! Yay!
