Feel Good Friday
Good morning, fabulous ladies!
For the side challenge, send me your active date/girls night out idea sometime today! I'll post and do the prize tomorrow morning :) So far I have them from Jen R., Amy, Kim, and Leslie.
This weekend Abrey, Meghan, Amy, & I are running a team marathon relay- good luck us :)
Today's feel good post is about success stories. Reading other people's success stories can really motivate us in our own weight loss journeys. "Wow, they lost SO MUCH weight and yes, it was hard, but they did it. Yes, it took them a long time, but they did it. I too can challenge my excuses." I love it.
Please search online and find a success story that you really like, then comment with the link to it for all of us to see (we did this last session, too, but I can't get enough of it, so do it again :) ). Here's a ton of them from Women's Health in a slide show. I really like this one and this one. Stuck? You can look through Women's Health, Fitness, Shape, Runner's World, Bicycling, Prevention, and probably a million others.
From this article, 20 Weight Loss Motivation Tips, check out #7 regarding success stories, "People who lose weight are not super-human. They just decided to go for it and then never gave up!" Reading these success stories remind you of that. Re-dedicate yourself to have a fantastic and healthy weekend, girls!

I read this story last week and was totally inspired by this guy.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!
Amy, I read that story in last month's issue! CRAZY! I can't believe kids actually threw trash at his head as he was riding around on his bike in NYC! But seriously, if this guy had the courage at 500 lbs to get on a custom-made heavy-weight bike and ride around the block to work out, then holy heck, we have no excuses to not get out there and push it!
ReplyDeleteOops, sorry for the multiple comments, but I got the date night/GNO plans from Tara, Abrey, & Shanda today. I am so excited for your fun! Keep them coming today, ladies :) The drawing winner gets a new water bottle!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHello ladies! I read this story and thought about all you runners. Very inspiring and one day I hope to be able to do a half marathon or even a marathon relay. Good luck Abrey, Meghan, Amy and Sarah! We will be cheering you on! http://www.runwalkjog.com/weightlossstory/weightlosssuccessstory18.htm
ReplyDeleteI also loved this story and how her new motto is to LIVE it-not DIEt http://www.runwalkjog.com/weightlossstory/weightlosssuccessstory21.htm
Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!
Thanks so much everyone for all the comments on protein powders! I really appreciate all the advice. It will help me a lot.
ReplyDeleteI really loved this quote from a weight loss story I was reading, "Recruit your stress: curb emotional eating with a new outlet like running" How awesome would that be if everytime we found ourselves roaming into the kitchen or scrounging up a nasty snack, we headed to the exercise instead?!
Thanks for the well wishes for tomorrow's run! I'm really looking forward to it!
The weight loss story that inspires me is my husband. He has been overweight his entire life. When we met and got married, he was probably in the mid to upper 200s. He got over 300 lbs. (Jen R. knew him when he was bigger!) A couple years ago, he decided to make the commitment to lose weight. He lost 100 pounds! He now runs about 5 miles a day and works hard to keep his weight off. He never in a million years thought that he would be able to do that. But he set his mind to it and stuck with it and made a change in lifestyle and worked hard ... yada, yada ... and did it.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you running ladies!
My weight loss inspiration story is going to sound cliche and a little pop culture-ish, but bear with me. Last season of the biggest loser I was literally brought to tears watching the contestants run a marathon. To see such morbidly obese people turn their lives around in 12 weeks to the point that they were able to run a marathon, I was seriously inspired. Now I am not saying my goal is to run a marathon, but I saw that I had more potential than I gave myself credit for!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the relay you guys! I can't wait to hear how everything went! You ladies are going to rock it!
PS. I know this is totally off topic, but cool nonetheless, did you know allrecipes.com now has a function where you can search by nutrition? You can search for foods low in calories or high in protein, or low in sodium, or whatever you are looking to supplement or avoid in my diet. I am so excited since 80% of my meals come from there! Enjoy this nice little tidbit!
Heidi,
ReplyDeleteI am totally inspired by the biggest loser as well!!! I know that Sarah and Nicki are fans too. Did you see the special over the holidays that went back to previous contestants? I was inspired by the guy (and his wife) that did the ironman in Hawaii.
Have a great weekend everyone!
