Good morning, you beautiful successful strong gorgeous powerful confident sexy ladies you! :) HALFWAY! Today marks the end of the first three weeks of the challenge and the beginning of the second three weeks of the challenge. How have you done the last week? Share both this last week's progress and the total progress for the last three weeks. Measurements today, too, which should be the first time measuring since the first day of the challenge (you can scoop up a $2 floppy white tape measurer at any fabric store like JoAnn's). In MFP, you can customize all the body areas you measure, so instead of their typical 3 or 4 default areas, I've added like 10 because gosh darn it I'm going to see progress somewhere and LOVE it :) Also share with us your feelings thus far about the challenge and what you've learned about yourself. Did you know you could do such hard things when you started?!? It's amazing to feel that sensation that for once in your life, you're the one in charge of your body; you are not the victim of your body's whims and demands. And let me also say that Nicole did AMAZING in her half marathon on Saturday! She didn't walk any of it. She cruised along at such a phenomenal pace that I couldn't believe it! My new best ever halfie time. And Valerie finished a full 22 minutes ahead of us WHILE pushing a baby stroller. I can't believe how incredibly talented, determined, motivated, and accomplished my friends are. I loved it! You should both be extremely proud of yourselves :) So share share share share- I can't wait to hear all the phenomenal progress and things my other friends are up to!!!!!!!!

This also marks the beginning of Side-Challenge #2! For those of you who wish to participate, I'll do a little prize at the end for each of you. It's a bit involved, but very personal and I can't wait to do it myself this week. The idea for this comes from
Dale Smith Thomas, a (female) speaker I heard a year and a half ago at a luncheon in Milwaukee for my work. I get her motivational emails each Monday and this is an idea she shared this summer. The Side-Challenge #2 will be to make a "Creation Box." According to Dale, "Start a 'Creation Box' - find a box that you can keep on your desk or in your home. Fill it with visual images of your goals and dreams. Photos from magazines, phrases, and ideas. Keep adding to your creation box." So that's your first of a few tasks in this side-challenge. Today and tomorrow, pick up or find at home a box, pail, jar, or anything else you can think of to be your new "creation box." Decorate it if you want. Make it something special for you.

Do you have a 'skinny' picture of you from years past that you want to get back to? Put it in the box! Do you have a favorite quote/mantra/scripture that motivates you? Write/Print it out and put it in the box! Do you have a vacation you are going to treat yourself to when you hit your goal- maybe a beach, a cruise, a waterpark, etc? Print out a picture and put it in the box! Do you have sports or activities you're going to be able to run and do without losing breath easily? Print out a picture and put it in the box! Are you working out to live a longer and healthier life with your kids? Print out a picture of them and put it in the box! In the past, some of you ladies have talked about the real you being hidden inside your current body and you're working to bring it out. Well what does that "real you" inside there look like, feel like, dream like, aspire to, play like, love like? Try and capture that in pictures, phrases, ideas, and put it in the box!

On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, there will be something else for you to put in the box that I'll describe then. I am SO excited for this one! On Friday, email me a picture of your creation box/jar/pail and describe one or two things in it. On Saturday, I'll post your pictures & thoughts for us all to be motivated by :)
Although I haven't seen a lot of progress on the scale overall this challenge, I've lost weight this week to undo the previous week's damage and thus I'm happy currently sitting at a total weight loss of 1.7 lbs for the last 3 weeks. I WAS slightly bummed about that, but then I did measurements and I'm THRILLED! I guess I'm just getting close to my goal weight and so it's getting harder and harder to shed weight; I must be getting more into the sculpting part of my fitness goals. So, drumroll please, here are my exciting measurements progress over the last 3 weeks!
ReplyDelete*Waist= lost 1.5"
*Hips= lost .5"
*Bust= lost 1.5" yeah, I need to go get a new bra, sadness :(
*Ribcage= lost 2"
*Calf= lost .25"
*Bum= lost 1"
*Neck= lost .25"
Oh, I forgot to mention, I am starting my 100 pushups challenge and 100 situps challenge this week! I did my max-out initial tests last week. I plan on trying the pushups on M, W, F and the situps on T, Th, & Sat. I am so excited some of you are going to give it a go, too!
ReplyDeleteWell, my monthly fortune (aunt flow) has come for me this past weekend, so the scale has not moved. Actually I technically lost 0.4 ounces. Which I guess is good considering I'm bloated and cramping! haha! Maybe next week will show a better number!?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunatly, I didn't measure the rest of my body at the beginning, so I have nothing else to report. I'll get a tape measure today and take my measurements so in 3 weeks I can have some results...
I am excited about the next side challenge! Always love doing something crafty! But more than that, just reading of all the stuff to put in the box made me cry! I WANT to see the real me, and I can see her in my brain, but it's getting things OUT and actually doing those things is the challenge! It's so hard when you're a mom and have a million things running through your mind and the demands on your time are ever present, but I try hard and do what I can!
I have loved this challenge so far. It really makes me REMEMBER that there's something better out there for me. Like I said, so many things clutter my mind, but having a daily reminder is awesome for me! I'm always in my email, so getting the post comments is great! Thanks Sarah, for doing this. You are amazing!
Good morning ladies!!!!! The scale is loving me these last 2 weeks, I am down a total of 7 pounds since the beginning!! I had to step off and get back on just to make sure it said I lost 3 pounds since last week....I am amazed at how great I feel and how great my abs are starting to look & feel....I am starting to see the 6 pack thats been under the ice chest!! Unfortunetly, I never weighed myself at the start of the challenge so I have nothing to compare my measurements too. Good luck ladies that ran in the halfie, I am inspired by your determination! Here's to another week.....keep it going strong!!
ReplyDeleteHello Lovely Ladies!! I had a fabulous relaxing weekend! I did well on food choices until the last meal eating out and over did it which I think is why I am only down 1 pound today BUT that is 9 pounds in 3 weeks!!!! It is amazing the more energy I have and the more I accomplish in a day. I was able to run harder and faster today and it felt amazing!!! I lost .8 inches off my neck, .7 inches off my waist and 1.2inches off my hips!!! Yesterday while getting ready for church I tried on a skirt I have had in my closet for almost a year and I could put it on AND zip it up all the way!!!!! A few more weeks and I will be able to wear it! I am so proud and inspired by all the ladies who ran the halfie on Sat. It is an amazing thing to set a goal and accomplish it what a empowering moment!
ReplyDeleteMorning Ladies!!! I just have to say again a BIG thanks to all of your for your kind words about the half marathon! My motivation was made so much bigger because of it! It went great! Sarah really got me through that last 2 miles at the end there. I was dying and she kept telling me great things like, "you're doing it!" "you're in charge of your body!" "you get to sit down in 10 minutes!" :) It was perfect. :) I'm so proud of me! Can I say that and not sound self-centered? I really am though! :) Wow, it just feels awesome to have accomplished something that seemed such an impossibility when I first thought about it! The BEST feeling ever! WE CAN ALL DO THIS CHALLENGE!
ReplyDeleteSo the scale tells me I'm back to what I was two weeks ago. Considering I had gained a few pounds last week, I feel great about that! I also know that I'm building a lot of muscle lately, so am not as stressed about the weight. Throw in my weird, looooong period this month and I realize I shouldn't rely so much on the scale. I'm seeing my size go down and I feel great! So I dug out my paper from the last time I weighed myself so I could get a little bit of good news this morning. :) So it was actually from last November! I thought it was sooner than that, but that's cool! :) I know it's not a good indicator of how I've done THIS ten in six, but it keeps me motivated to continue this weight loss journey!! :) Here goes:
Loss since November 2008
Weight: 16 pounds
Chest: 3 inches
Arms: 1 1/4 inches
Waist: 4 inches
Hip: 3 1/2 inches
Thigh: 4 inches
Yippee!! So now I have measurements to compare to at the end of this 10 in 6. I'm at 3 pounds for this time around. Keep on tuckin everyone! I'll be doing the mini-challenge Sarah, great idea! You guys are all doing great!!!! Amazing work everyone!
not such a good week for the weight for me. I gained, but it could have been worse...At least I used the gym at the Kalahari.
ReplyDeleteI did make progress on my measurments
waist:.5
hips:.25
chest:.25
arm:0
thigh:0
calf:.75
lower abs: 1
I can't wait to start this new challenge. I have the perfect box!
Here's to a new week!
Good morning ladies! I too had a great weekend away from home. I'm happy with the way I ate up to last night and I should've worked out. Consequently, I gained .4 lbs. this week. I'm ok with that because I did my measurements and I lost an inch in my waist and an inch in my hips! Whoo-hoo! I'm so happy about that! I'm starting to have to wear my jeans with a belt or they slide down. Isn't it a wonderful feeling to see your clothes become too big!!? Love it!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the half Nicci, Sarah and Valerie! You are all an inspiration. The box idea sounds so fun, I'm in! I'm anxious to see what they all will look like!
Lets all have a stellar week ladies!
I have mixed news, too. Gained 1 lb since last Monday. In these 3 weeks, lost 0.5" in hips, 0.5" in thigh, 0" in waist. Since Aug 17, lost 1.25" hips, 1.25" thigh, 1" waist. I started wearing a belt a few weeks ago, haven't really worn a belt since college. My husband says now I know how he feels (he is thin and asks me to leave his jeans in the dryer longer to shrink up after washing). It gets me to do the laundry more because my jeans are too loose for a third wearing. ;)
ReplyDeleteStarted the push-ups, sit-ups and squats challenges!! Excited to have upper body strength in a month or so! Thanks for telling us about them, Sarah.
I had a crazy busy morning this morning and totally forgot to weigh myself - but I'll be sure to do so tomorrow! I love reading about all of your successes!
ReplyDeleteI woke up late and forgot to weigh myself so I have to do that tomorrow morning as well. I am on my 3rd day of the sit ups and 1st of the pushups and am already loving it. I am really looking forward to the box! This is a project I am going to do with Teanna too.
ReplyDeleteHi Ladies! So today has been very busy and the rest of my week will be too! I woke up this morning to realize that I had forgotten to set my alarm to go to water aerobics and so I was just going to to skip working out all together but all morning I had this nagging voice in my head that kept telling me I needed to go and do some kind of work out. I kept arguing with myself and almost won :) but the words "challenge your excuses" kept coming to my mind and so I am proud to say that I went to the gym and did the elliptical and the treadmill and I am so glad I did because I felt good the rest of the day and I even ate pretty good too! So I am way behind the rest of you, I feel like today is when I really just started this 10 in 6 challenge because I have been out of town, two birthdays, a baptism and family coming in town but anyways, I weighed myself this morning and then read "the proper way to measure yourself" and now I am set...a little late...but better late than never, right! So thank you for all of your inspirational thoughts and advice even though you don't know me, it is really helping and I just want to say I am so proud of Nicki for finishing her race (without stopping, I might add) Wow, what an awesome accomplishment and great job as well to you other two, Valerie and Sarah that is so cool that you did this together and that you pushed each other and encouraged each other! Way to go you three! Also thank you for the "creation box" idea, I am in too and can't wait to see everybody's ideas! Good night and congratulations to everyone who lost weight and inches, how awesome!
ReplyDeleteAmy F.- I love the daily reminders from everyone, too! Just keep on truckin' this week and I know you'll see great results. Tara- woohoo for sexy abs! I'm impressed! Abrey- I'm so happy you're feeling more energy! I can't wait to see your "new" skirt :) You've really started this challenge running full steam ahead! Nicki- I'm so proud of you! Your accomplishment should make you proud for a very long time to come! 4" off your waist is INCREDIBLE! Wow! You've made phenomenal progress and I'm happy for you :) Amy C. & Meghan- I'm glad vacation was nice and horray for you and your slimming bods! I LOVE when a pair of pants gets baggy. That's so much cooler than seeing weight drop on the scale :) Sarah F.- wow! What huge progress on your hips & thighs, which is right where you wanted the most progress! You should be so proud of yourself for doing what your goal is!! Shanda- that's such a great idea to do the box w/ your daughter! I hope you two can find wonderful images of your fun and healthy future together to put in there :) Kim- ooooh, water aerobics, sounds fun! HUGE APPLAUSE for getting to do the elliptical! Wow! Isn't that so empowering to know that you made the decision to change? And that carries over to make you feel unstoppable and proud the rest of the day, too :) It's as simple AND as hard as a decision each day. Multiple times a day. Let Kim be an inspiration to us all to decide each day to be the best us! We're so glad to have you join us :) There's no competition here, unless you count old Kim vs. new Kim. Can't wait to hear about your successes in your 3 week challenge!
